I was born in 1979 in Milan, Italy. I've always been into making noise and i've always liked music but i didn't really try until 1996 (although at mid-school i did study classic flute for three years...) when i found a shareware program called FastTrackerII and I started making one track per day, they did sound horrible but somehow i thought they were great. The funniest part was to see that i didn't have a clue about how to make songs properly so they were done almost randomly following pure instinct. The results were not really good i must say, but hey, that was a beginning anyway! Fortunately my friends (who were not into techno at all) really supported me at the beginning, when i first brought a tape at school they were all really enthousiast about it (although, let me just repeat it really sounded horrible). That gave me a good kick and here we go...since that day I put a great deal of energy into making music and joined the tracking scene with the name "Doktor Noize Dj", quality was slowly starting to get better and feedback from the listeners was also good! The big change came in summer 1999 when I made a track called "The Moon and The Sun" which got a couple of labels interested. This was one of the first tracks I created using MIDI and just one synth and I was really lucky since it was the very first demo i ever sent and it got replies from all those who heard it! I finally decided to sign it to DIEFFEPUBLISHING/Progressive Force here in italy under the "Doktor Noize Dj" guise. They were very positively impressed by my works and gave me the chance to produce many tracks for them, especially for their compilations. I produced around 50 songs in one and a half year. Receiving the first payments allowed me to expand my studio with more hardware. The sound consequently became better and more detailed. I then decided to start a internet project on mp3.com called DJ PNT which got quite successful, although the page didn't have that many hits, it was my remixes for other artists that got well known! This lead to "meeting" a lot of other producers online and to a few cooperations. Some of these "online" friendships evolved into real projects such as "inQdine" ( me and Erik Sand), and "Cellmates" (me, Jesper Buch and Rune Risom - previously known as Basscamp). At the same time, a remix i did for Erik Sand's "Detektor" project got me signed to Boost Records in Germany with a project that brings my real name "giorgio ponticelli", the first release on Boost Records was "Trance Unity". The track was out in 2001 and was soon followed by a huge remix competition run by Boost Records themselves. The response was great, we received a LOT of remixes, with a really high average quality (it was really difficult to decide the winners), but finally we did and Boost published "Trance Unity - the remixes", which got signed to ZYX Records, which is the label where my "Giorgio Ponticelli projects" currently belongs. At the same time a lot big Djs like Blank&Jones, Gary D and Tillman Uhrmacher (to name a few..) giving me a very good exposure! While signed to Boost I also had the chance to perform at some of the biggest events like "Love Parade 2001 - in Berlin [for the Raveline truck]" and "Nature One 2001 [for the raveline base]". My style as a Dj is hard and pumping trance-influenced-techno, guaranteed to rock all the crowds... And here we come to 2002, still producing and DJing the future looks bright! Stay tuned to hear more from me... |
